Back in Sweden at the translation desk after another intense but amazing two-week business trip to Japan as a tour guide. I also took a well-needed week off in Tokyo, where I had reunions with some good old friends that I haven’t seen for over a decade. I miss Japan already!
I want to give a huge thank you to Världens Resor, all the Swedish travelers for your fantastic company, and of course the Japanese clients for your warm welcome! For me as a tour guide, together you made this trip a real pleasure 🇯🇵 🇸🇪
This time we stopped by a tea plantation in Shizuoka, where we experienced a tea tasting of delicious green tea. It was such a beautiful place not far from Mount Fuji. I am a big tea drinker, so I took the opportunity to bring home some high quality matcha and sencha 🍵🍃
I was also asked to jump in as interpreter (impromptu) from Japanese to Swedish on spot, to help the owner explain how the tea leaves are prepared and processed before being sold on the market. Thankfully, I’m very interested in tea and there were not many difficult technical terms involved, so the interpretation went well without preparation. I quite enjoyed it. Sometimes interesting tasks can show up as a surprise! And I have to say that contributing to cultural exchange between different countries through language services is always rewarding, no matter what form the jobs may take.
