What a journey!
Much like Mario here, I’ve popped up in different places to get work done. But not through magical warp pipes (I wish!)
💼New collaborations
- 4 clients in game localization
- 1 client in apparel & outdoor sports gear
- 1 client in tourism & travel
💡Training and exhibitions
- Storytelling workshop in Stockholm
I learned effective techniques to make stories more impactful and captivating for the audience. A fascinating and educational experience. The teacher (Frida) had me and the other 20 participants completely immersed with an old Greenlandic myth about Sedna, the goddess of the sea, and a deceptive bird-spirit. While listening to this meticulously told tale, I could see the vision in my mind so clearly.
📖 Gothenburg Book Fair
A real paradise for bookworms. I attended the most important literary event of the year in Sweden and enjoyed presentations and talks with talented authors from all over the world. My absolute favorite part was the interview with the author Dan Brown (famous for thrillers such as The Da Vinci Code). During the interview he also gave simple but solid advice to all writers out there, which I’d like to share it with you:
- Write to your taste, write the book that you would wanna read, that’s really the only guidepost that you have, your own taste.
🌏Business trips
Besides writing, translating and reviewing texts, I also worked as a tour guide in Japan for a group of Swedish travelers for two weeks. It was such an exciting and fulfilling job, so I will do it once again in spring next year. Contributing to the cultural exchange between Sweden and Japan is something I normally focus on as a translator, but now I get to do that in person as well. I’m so happy for this opportunity.
Last but not least, I want to thank my clients and colleagues for the steady and valuable teamwork during the year!
P.S.
Did you know that Super Mario Bros. turned 40 last year? 🍄🏰🐢⭐👻🎉
